2019 Social Media Trends

2019 Social Media Trends

Happy 2019!

Social media trends can change in a blink of an eye – and it’s important to stay up to date with them. Here at Bright Productions, we’re very excited to see what 2019 has in store for social media marketing. Here are five expected trends for 2019:

1. Video is still King

For 2019, it’s all about the visuals. Video continues to dominate social media and is predicted to continue to rise in popularity. From videos posted to Instagram to going Live on Facebook, brands are changing the way they communicate and engage with fans. If you’re still working in a “text-first” realm of digital marketing, it’s time to learn what the video platforms have to offer for the success of your brand.

2.  Go Live

Facebook launched its live feature more than two years ago and people love it. It’s not just video that’s trending in 2019, it’s engaging through video. This means going live to communicate with your fans, answer questions, give tutorials and anything else your creative mind can think of. Facebook reported that there have been more than 3,500,000,000 Facebook Live broadcasts since it launched. Think of all the valuable time that is to engage with fans and followers!

Additionally, Instagram Live stories are increasingly popular. With Instagram Live, companies can respond immediately to client issues, answer questions and hosting discussions with followers. It also helps facilitate and build relationships but mimicking the bonding potential of in-person interactions.

3.  Be Trustworthy

From improvements on security to purging millions of fake accounts, social media went through a lot in 2018. By the end of the year, consumers, regulators and media observers questioned the privacy, ethics and accuracy of almost every social network.

This doesn’t have to be a problem if you’re a smart brand. If your brand focuses on generating transparent, quality engagement, you shouldn’t have any worry. This is the perfect opportunity to use micro-influencers. To learn more about how to work with micro-influencers, read our blog.

4. You HAVE to pay-to-play

According to Hootsuite, social ad budgets increased by 32% in 2018. This money is going less towards generic banner ads and more towards paying crossed-platform content creators skilled in video, motion graphics, design and more. This means that not only are ads on social media getting more expensive, but they’re literally getting better. They’re getting more creative, more targeted and more high-tec.

5. Consumers are curious

Embrace new ad formats. You have to be willing to try new things and learn new tactics. The social ad space is constantly innovating and newer formats have the advantage of looking new and sparkly to consumers. This is the perfect opportunity to split-test for success, use what you’ve learned from previous campaigns to improve next time and to rise to the challenge. Good luck!
